Marc Trachtenberg, founder

Marc’s inspiration for Rock-a-Baby came after years of educating children by day and entertaining adults by night. The opportunity was clear to bring caregivers and kids together for a mutual musical experience that both enriches and delights. With a B.S. in Music Education from NYU, Marc began his career as a piano teacher and music director at schools and community centers with a passion for inspiring the youngest musical minds. At the same time, he was performing regularly with renowned NYC cover bands and special performances with Jay and the Americans and The Blues Brothers. In 2007 the time to blend these talents came to fruition and Rock-a-Baby was born in New York. Rock-a-Baby branched out into several locations throughout the city and boroughs for over ten years. Since then, the program has continued to grow and thrive in Rhode Island (Marc’s home base) and into Massachusetts.

Trachtenberg’s performance career has continued to evolve, as keyboardist for premier New England cover band, The Free Downloads (who appear in the feature length film: The Comedian, 2017) and most recently, touring the world with YouTube sensation, Postmodern Jukebox. In addition, he’s composed for Gillette commercial ads and recorded musical content for Hasbro, Team Umizoomi and Blues Clues. Marc continues to be an active musical talent throughout Rhode Island in various bands and is also a member of the Camp JORI Board of Directors.
